The May Digest

It’s been a minute since I’ve written one of these.

Not because I didn't want to - but because April and May had other plans. Between travel, producing a two-show benefit concert, performing live again, and running on what felt like adrenaline and fumes for two straight months… I needed a second.

April kicked off with an all-time bucket list moment: AC/DC at the Rose Bowl. A full stadium, guitars that rattled your chest, and the surreal magic of watching legends in their seventies absolutely tear it up like it was 1980. It felt like a wake-up call in the best way - this is what it looks like to keep showing up for your craft, your power, your joy. It’s also what started the slow crescendo of the unexpected: a full-body reminder of why I do any of this in the first place.

And with May came the benefit.

The New Hollywood Benefit: Renaissance was the kind of night I’ll be chasing creatively for a while; not because it was perfect (it was live, so it was chaos in the best way), but because my hands were deep in the soil of it since its inception. I co-produced it from the ground up, alongside a team of deeply generous, badass women, and helped bring to life a night full of purpose, power, and performance that cracked something open in the room.

Broadway voices, film and television talent, spoken word pieces that made people cry. Testimonies from women in our TNH Accountability Program that reminded me why I say yes to this work again and again - the program supports formerly homeless single mothers through grants, goals, mentorship, and monthly accountability coaching. And then I got to step on stage and perform myself - singing, dancing, guitar - and remember what it feels like to take up space as an artist, not just a producer or a planner. (You can watch all the performance clips here!) Visit The News to read more about the event.

And after a twelve-hour, two-show day and late-night celebratory drinks, three hours of sleep led directly to a 5AM alarm and a full day at Disneyland the next morning (because I’m incapable of restoration or staying still in any form).

Then came the whispering tendrils of burnout. I’ve been trying - really trying - to rest. But the itch doesn’t leave. The one that whispers, “You should be doing more.” The one that tugs at your gut (especially in this industry) when you finally slow down and says, “But what if you’re falling behind?”

I’ve talked about this a lot lately, but there’s a difference between resting and numbing. Between slowing down because your body needs it, and abandoning momentum out of fear. Leading lady energy isn’t frantic. It’s full. It’s certain. It’s well-fed.

So I’ve been letting the stillness be active. Letting it show me what I need to feel, where I’m burnt, and what’s ready to be created next; and remembering that this version of me knows how to lead a comeback.

And now, albeit briefly, onto the good stuff…

Here’s what’s been inspiring me, lighting me up, and keeping my creativity alive in the quieter ways this month.
